School of Environmental & Biological Engineering has four undergraduate majors of Environmental Engineering, Bioengineering, Biopharmaceuticals and Food Quality and Safety, which are the cradles for cultivating high-level talents in the engineering for improving the water quality and the engineering of biotechnology applications.

There are 49 full-time and part-time teachers in the School, including 1 academician and 14 associate professors and above. With strong academic atmosphere here, the domestic top experts inwater treatment, scholars and entrepreneurs often attend the Changjiang River Ecosystem Forum, and teach the frontier theory and technology face to face with teachers and students to discuss academic problems. More than 20 sessions of the Changjiang River Ecosystem Forum have been held at the School in the past three years.

The School has a Li Guibai academician workstation, Wei Fusheng academician workstation, Hubei provincial key experimental teaching demonstration center, Hubei engineering technology research center on reclamation of sewage and 2 Hubei provincial undergraduate practical training base. In order to build a platform for training international talent and communication and enhance international horizons for students, School of Environmental & Biological Engineering established a Chinese-foreign cooperative teaching platform with famous universities such as Manchester Metropolitan University and Chatham University, and introduced advanced teaching concepts and methods from foreign universities. The School uses functional materials developed through international cooperation for water treatment, and develops relevant courses and scientific research projects aiming at global environmental issues and sustainable development issues, to carry out various exchange and cooperation projects to provide students with more opportunities for further study.
