WTBU commends the 2021 National Undergraduate Mathematical Modeling Contest winning teachers and students teams


At 2:00 pm on April 28th, the summary and commendation meeting of the National Undergraduate Mathematical Modeling Contest of Wuhan Technology and Business University was held in the third conference room of the school. Kong Jianyi, President of WTBU, Zhang Jun, Vice President of WTBU and other school leaders attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Zhu Wei, Secretary of the Party Branch of the Public Division.

Secretary Zhu Wei first introduced the school's mathematical modeling team's achievements in the mathematical modeling competition over the years. "From 2006 to 2021, the school students participated in the National Mathematical Modeling Contest for College Students and won 3 national first prizes (1 for the undergraduate group and 2 for the specialist group), 6 second prizes, and 57 provincial awards. In 2018, the students of the school went abroad and made great achievements in the American College Students Mathematical Contest in Modeling, winning 1 first prize and 3 second prizes." Then, he announced the school's list of winners of the 2021 National Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling: Wu Tao, Wang Hongli, Tu Shuangru won the National First Prize; Li Yujian, Chen Yanlin, Chen Yi won the Hubei First Prize; Xu Qingyuan, Zhou Yu, Zha Yujie and other students won the Hubei Third Prize; Cheng Bin The teacher won the Excellent Organization Award. President Kong Jianyi, Vice President Zhang Jun and Vice Minister of Academic Affairs Chen Tao presented awards to the winning teachers and students.

"It turns out that through these competitions, the school has cultivated a large number of outstanding students, which has greatly improved the competitiveness of postgraduate entrance examinations and employment. Some of them have been admitted to famous schools as postgraduates, and some have been hired by well-known enterprises." Wu Shan, director of the public course department, said. The work of the mathematical modeling team was reported in detail. She believes that after nearly 20 years of perseverance, the achievements of digital and analog teams have greatly improved the quality of talent training.
